East Brighton Residence
This project, featuring a classic 50’s dwelling, came to Ivo Solar Homes a little worse for wear. The brief was simple - to extend and renovate the residence, restoring it to its 50’s glory. However, on further investigation it became clear this period home had been sorely neglected.
With the upmost respect and the desire to maintain the integrity of the era, we let the history of the home and its solid structure dictate the direction forward. During the design and building process an array of original features in the house were discovered – Castlemaine slate, blue stained windows, glass panelled feature walls and 50’s cream brickwork. Ivo repurposed these materials and introduced them back into the house – making them key centrepieces of the property.
The result is a sleek family home brimming with style and comfort. Ivo and his team masterfully combined modern day functionality with 50’s inspired features to effortlessly unite the old with the new.
“Every period passed has unique features. They’re classic and timeless and are an important record of our history. Whenever designing a residence, I always find the essence of what I’m working with and then build on that – respecting our past and bringing it into the future.”
